1. FAQs on Contact Less Cards 1. What is a Contactless Card?
Contactless card is a normal chip card with an inbuilt radio frequency antenna. You can make payment by simply tapping the card on the terminal within 4 cm distance without handing over the card.
2. Where and how can I make contactless payments?
Anywhere you see the contactless symbol at checkout, you can tap your card and get receipt on successful payment. This facility is available at restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies, stadiums and other locations having contactless terminals.
3. What to do if the terminal is not enabled for contactless cards?
The same card can be used for payment by dipping or swiping with PIN authentication.
4. Is there a daily limit on contactless purchases?
RBI guidelines permit a maximum amount of Rs. 5,000/- per transaction. You can make 5 contactless transactions continuously; the 6th transaction requires PIN authentication. Any transaction above Rs. 5,000/- must be done with PIN.
5. Can I use the card for ATM/Ecom/PoS transactions?
Yes, apart from using Tap & Go mode, the card can be used for ATM, E-commerce and PoS transactions with PIN.
6. Will accidental debits happen by walking past a contactless terminal?
No. Contactless machines have a limited range. The card must be within 4 cm of the terminal and transaction must be initiated by the merchant.
7. What should I do if I lose my contactless card?
Immediately block your card through available bank channels as contactless cards can be used without PIN.
8. Is contactless mode compulsory for payments up to Rs. 5,000?
No. Customers may choose to use contactless or PIN-based transaction as per preference.
9. Can I enable or disable the contactless feature?
Yes, IOB provides an option to enable or disable the contactless feature through Account Holding Branch or Net Banking/Mobile Banking.

1. What is NCMC (National Common Mobility Card)?
NCMC is a payment instrument conceptualized by the Government of India which can be used across public transport systems such as buses, metro rail and for retail payments.
2. What is the difference between Normal Debit Card and NCMC?
NCMC has all features of a normal contactless debit card along with a stored value wallet that enables offline digital payments.
3. What is Wallet in NCMC Card?
Wallet is a virtual allocation within the EMV chip to store balance which can be used for offline payments such as Metro Rail, Buses and Toll Plazas.
4. How can I load or top-up money in my NCMC Wallet?
Money can be added through Internet Banking NCMC top-up facility or by cash or debit to account at certified contactless terminals.
5. How much amount can be loaded in NCMC Wallet?
The maximum amount that can be made available in the wallet at any point of time is Rs. 2,000/-.
6. Can I check my NCMC wallet balance?
Yes, wallet balance can be viewed at RuPay qSparc certified NCMC compatible terminals.
7. What should I do if my NCMC card is lost?
Immediately block the card through branch, net banking, mobile banking or toll-free number. Contactless online transactions will be blocked immediately.
8. What is the use of NCMC wallet account number?
The NCMC wallet account number is a virtual account used for reconciliation purpose and not used by customers directly.
